Lilongwe, 16 November 2015: Local artists continue to make way into the South African and international music scene with Malawi’s former Big Brother housemate, rapper DJ Lomwe’s new “Bad Habit” music video now on rotation on Channel O.

Lomwe is the second artist making headlines in South Africa following fellow country mate Gemini Major being nominated for Producer of the year at South African Hip Hop Awards 2015 scheduled for 9 December.

In an interview with Malawi News Agency (Mana), Lomwe said he has been busy establishing himself in the South African media scene.

“I did a guest appearance on the hit soapie “Rhythm City” and I have a new song “Bad Habit” which has been rotating on YFM and other stations and its music video has just been released,” he said.

According to the artist, “Bad Habit” is a song about people who fall in love and do things that they would not normally do.

Commenting on its rotation on Channel O, Lomwe said, “It’s an honour and it is very important because it’s not easy to reach this milestone especially for Malawian artists, it shows that I am heading in the right direction and it is an inspiration for young Malawians.”

The song features South Africa’s DJ Khathu and Nigeria’s Skek.

“Now that “Bad Habit” video is out I will be releasing an EP then an Album titled “JOB”, watch this space,” he disclosed.

Lomwe’s local music career reached its peak after the release of “Rumours of War” mixtape in 2011 which was a direct jab at rival Tay Grin.
