Blantyre, March 24: Organisers of Lake of Stars festival have said the event this year promises more high quality entertainment compared to the previous events.
In a press release published recently, the organizers said they have maintained the usual venue at Sunbird Nkopola from 25th to 27th September and that it is going to be a promising event.
“The 2015 Lake of Stars festival will be held on the last weekend of September, 25th to 27th, and promises even more of the high quality entertainment that has seen it develop into a globally respected event. Spread across three days and three stages, the lineup will feature a wealth of talent from Malawi, Africa and beyond.
“Alongside the main festival at Nkopola Lodge, free outreach activities will also take place in neighboring Chipoka Village for the local community,” reads the statement in part.
Apart from enjoying music, this year patrons will also be entertained by poetry, theatre, dance, art and a new interactive science display area.
Director, Will Jameson says was very excited to have the old sponsors from last year as well as new ones saying: “We are excited to be launching this year’s event with the backing of a number of our sponsors and partners from 2014 alongside new partners. To run the event to world class standards is a huge undertaking and one that would not be possible without their generous support.”
Some international artists set to perform are Nigeria’s Ric Hassani, Scottish trio Young Fathers and on the local scene artists that have already confirmed attendance are Gwamba and Danny Kalima with more to be announced over the coming months.
Some of the companies that have partnered with Lake of Stars this year include Malawian Airlines, Multi-Choice Malawi, Continental Outdoors, Royal Norwegian Embassy and Sunny Money.
